The Nyrr’khal

The Primes

Each Nyrr’khal “group” is ruled by a single Prime — an ancient worm whose lifespan is measured in millennia.

A Prime births hundreds of offspring every century, each a fully formed symbiote capable of seeking out a host. These Primes are revered, feared, and often hidden — their locations, and even their hosts, known only to their most devoted followers.

A young Nyrr’khal appears as a ribbon-like organism of shimmering gold and black, capable of merging with a host through the spine or chest cavity.

Once bonded, the Worm transforms its host:

Regeneration is amplified to near-supernatural levels
Strength and speed are enhanced far beyond natural limits
Lifespan is extended — centuries for lesser worms, millennia for Primes
The nervous system is integrated, forming a dual-consciousness partnership

Hosts often describe the sensation as:

“A second heartbeat in the mind.”

Rebirth — The Second Life

When the host body dies, the Worm does not.

Instead, it reanimates the corpse — repairing and puppeteering it with perfect control. This state, known as Rebirth, is the true form of the Nyrr’khal.

The body becomes cold, pale, and subtly altered. The Worm’s consciousness becomes dominant, though the host’s memories remain.

Personality, however…

Becomes filtered.

Reborn hosts are deeply unsettling — revered and feared in equal measure. They are effectively immortal commanders, capable of guiding political and military agendas for centuries.

The Golden Emperor

The first recorded Nyrr’khal host was a Dwarven Emperor, now known only as The Golden Emperor.

Over 8,000 years ago, he vanished into a collapsed mine on a dead world.

When he emerged, he carried the first known Prime.

Some say he found it.

Others whisper…

It found him.

His eventual Rebirth marked the beginning of a new era — the foundation of the alliance that would one day become the Grand Galactic Senate.

The Eternal Ruler

The Golden Emperor still sits within the Senate today.

Unchanged.

Watching.

His voice is calm, ancient, and terrifyingly persuasive.

Many believe he is the true power behind the GGS.

At over 8,000 years old, he is the longest-serving senator in galactic history.

He is:

A master manipulator
A living symbol of the Worm’s divinity
The quiet architect of countless treaties, wars, and reforms

His words carry a weight no one dares openly challenge.

Some believe he is preparing the galaxy for something.

Others fear…

He is preparing the Nyrr’khal for someone.

Political Influence — The Quiet Masters of the GGS

The Nyrr’khal were instrumental in the formation of the Grand Galactic Senate.

Their hosts — particularly Reborn individuals — provide continuity and stability across centuries. Where other governments rise and fall, Nyrr’khal influence endures.

To supporters, this is strength.

To critics, it is domination.

Why They Are Feared
They live for thousands of years
They never truly die
They can infiltrate any species
Their hosts become political titans
Their Primes are ancient beyond comprehension

Some senators whisper that the GGS is not a government at all…

But a Nyrr’khal breeding program disguised as democracy.

And yet, few object.

Because who would refuse:

Long life.
Wealth.
Power.

Culture & Faith — The Worm as God

The Church of Nyrr’khal is a galaxy-spanning religion that worships the Worm as:

The Eternal Guide
The Giver of Second Life
The Perfect Union of Flesh and Purpose

Its priests often carry lesser symbiotes, granting extended life and unnatural resilience. Their temples are filled with golden iconography, spiralling motifs, and preserved Reborn saints, who have died from unatrual means.

The Grukkna’ri Interpretation

To the Grukkna’ri, the Worm is the ultimate expression of their own god — the Great Worm of Trade and Arts.

They see the Nyrr’khal as:

Divine recyclers
Masters of transformation
Living proof that death is simply another resource

Many Grukkna’ri warlords willingly accept symbiotes, believing it elevates them beyond mortality.

The Worm in the Age of the Games

The Nyrr’khal are deeply entwined with the power structures of the modern galaxy:

Seraph Industries — their favoured arms supplier
The Church of Nyrr’khal — their spiritual influence
The Grand Galactic Senate — their political foundation

Their presence within the Grand Galactic Games is subtle, but unmistakable.

Reborn champions.
Enhanced hosts.
Entire cult-armies.

All fighting beneath the banner of the Worm.
